Black and white silk top embellished with sequins, featuring a hidden zip on the side to fasten.
This top has been a real tough research. Pictured above are pieces from the first ever Rive Gauche collection in 1966, with this top seemingly matching up perfectly. However, upon studying the garment, certain elements are not typical of Saint Laurent’s pieces of the time, such as the YKK plastic zip and the ‘L’ size label. We can guess that this piece is either an original 1966 piece that may have undergone repairs or upgrades; or it is a piece from later a collection such as 1986, when many of the same striped sequin patterns were produced having been inspired by the 1966 designs.
Made from 100% silk on the interior. For modern standard sizing the ‘L’ is more accurate to a UK 10, though it is slightly tighter in the bust, so could easily fit a UK 8. Seen here on a UK 6 as a loose fit, but presumably was created with a tighter look in mind.
